  •  The 'Shwe Myitzu' island pagoda in Indawgyi is impressively noble and is one of the pagoda famed in Myanmar for miraculous power.  This pagoda was constructed under the auspices of the monk, Sayadaw U Thawbita(Lay name U Tha Aye) who had resided in the triple mountain region west of Indawgyi.
Originally the height of the pagoda was about 10feet only,  but in 1873 AD, one U Shwe Nyi carried out renovations and raised the height to 28 feet.
Once of the significant features of the Pagoda is that waters of the Lake always remain pure and crystal clear.
Pepole in the region believe the fish have been provided as food by benevolent spirits, so they salvage and eat them.
