Goreme에서 약7km 떨어져 있는 Urgup은 , 토요일에는 전 지역을 대상으로 한 시장 뿐만 아니라 여행자들의 필요한 것들을 조달하는 현대적 타운 이다.

이곳은 여행자들의 요구에 부응하여 지난 20년간 엄청나게 성장하였으며, 현재 특히 도자기, 가죽, 골동품, 보석, 카펫을 파는 중요 쇼핑센터가 있다.

Urgup은 극장, 디스코텍, 터키식 저녁음식, 술이 있는 바, 전통춤이 있는 생기찬 밤의 문화생활이 있다.

또한 주변에 오랫동안 변함없는 오스만제국과 그리스의 포도주를 만드는 전통이 이어진다.  많은 포도주가게는 연중 내내 무료와인시식을 제공하며, 매년 6월 첫째 주에는 포도주 축제가 열리고 있다.

Urgup is about 7 kilometers from  Goreme and  is a modern town catering to the needs of tourists as well as a market town for the whole area on Saturdays.

Urgup has grown enormously over the last twenty years or so in response to the needs of tourists, and is now a major shopping centre especially for carpets, jewelry, antiques, leather, ceramics, and hookahs.  Urgup has some lively nightlifes with a theatre, discos and bars offering Turkish evenings of food, drink and traditional dancing.  

Around  Urgup the long standing Ottoman and Greek tradition of wine making continues.    Many wine shops offer free wine testing all year round and a Wine Festival is held every year in the first week of June.
